Transformation in Turkey

Date created: May 2006

This site was created for a history project, wherein I tried to show some examples of how Turkey was transformed at the turn of the 20th century and in the early 20th century. The site was created in May 2006.

The site is laid out in the form of a map, and this transformation is told through various rooms and sections of the Topkapi Palace in Istambul. Clicking on a section brings up the name of that area, and how it relates to Turkey's transformation.

Transformation in Turkey was the first website I created as an entirely Flash-based website. Although I had used Macromedia Flash many times before, that was solely for animation, and I had never used ActionScripting before. Therefore, there was a steep learning curve when I embarked the journey to create a Flash website. But, I felt up to it, especially since Flash offers designers so much more freedom than HTML.

I learned how to link back to different scenes, and eventually I had a fully functional Flash website online.
